Blizzard Entertainment’s latest announcement regarding the future of Warcraft includes an intriguing tease for an as-yet-unrevealed Warcraft video game. While the big news for many may be that Blizzard plans to reveal the next World of Warcraft expansion on April 19th, and Hearthstone is set to reveal a new expansion next week, there is a small little tease at the bottom of the announcement that whatever Warcraft mobile game the developer has been working on for years will finally be revealed in May.
“Beyond World of Warcraft and Hearthstone, we’re preparing to get the first game in the Warcraft Universe designed for mobile into your hands,” the official announcement about the franchise’s future states. “We will tell you more about it in May.”
While the revelation of a Warcraft mobile game in May may surprise some, there have been clues for years that Blizzard Entertainment was working on some form of mobile product for the series. According to a Kotaku article from late 2018, there was, at the time, some kind of Warcraft mobile game in development that was comparable to Pokemon Go. Furthermore, considering the announcement of Diablo Immortal, the mobile Diablo game, years ago, the prospect of a Warcraft mobile game makes a lot of sense.
As previously said, there will be a number of announcements for the Warcraft series and its many video games in the coming months. New Hearthstone expansions will begin to be disclosed on March 15th, the new World of Warcraft expansion will be presented on April 19th, and whatever the aforementioned mobile game set in the world of Warcraft will be revealed – if not released – in May.
